Regulatory Technical Support

Stormwater Management
Stormwater pollution prevention regulations require that discharges of stormwater from certain industrial activities, municipalities, and construction activities be permitted under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)(40 CFR 122.26). Several General Permits and Group Permits have been issued for various facility categories. Facilities subject to stormwater discharge regulations are required to prepare and implement stormwater pollution prevention (SWPP) plans that focus on identifying and implementing appropriate best management practices (BMPs) to reduce stormwater pollution. SWPP plans must be prepared and maintained at the facility covered by the permit, and must be provided to inspectors upon request.
